[edit] Overview
Outpost G12: Lacirem Nor was established in the Tamoan System for its strategic position near the borders of the Cardassian Union and the United Federation of Planets. Cardassian military built and occupied the station over 20 years ago to mine the dilithium that had been discovered on Tamoa IV. Being the sister station to Terok Nor (Deep Space 9), Outpost G12 is designed exactly like that of her sibling, with three lower decks being dedicated for ore processing. However, unlike her sister, Tamoa IV was recorded to be uninhabited by humanoid beings and so the Cardassian military were forced to bring other miners to their aid.
In 2368, the mines were largely exhausted and so the Cardassian military decided to move on, finding new planets to mine the source that would power their fleet of starships. The system was left abandoned for a number of years until some Cardassian civilians set foot upon the only viable planet within the Tamoan System, Tamoa IV. They now colonise three major cities, Rolyat, Giarac and Werdna.
In 2382, Outpost G12 was relocated to the Valteras System on the far side of Cardassian Space, in a venture proposed by the Cardassian Free People's Government of a joint operation fo exploration.
[edit] The Valteras System
The Vateras System consists of 6 planets and extends a radius of 4.89 billion KM. With the nearest star being only a few billion billion km away, from the planets, it looks as if there are two suns (as in a Binary System), however the two stars are distinct. Valteras has the family of six planets, whilst her neighbour, Bankarai has only one planet.

Above is diagramatic representation of the Valteras System. Each planet has its own characteristics being different to their siblings.
[edit] VALTERAS I - CLASS B (GEO-MORTEUS)
Orbiting the star at an average distance of 50million Km, Valteras I is the hottest in the system, reaching temperatures in excess of 700 degrees Celsius in the day time and going as low as -202 degrees Celsius at night.
There are regions on the surface that are molten rock, due to the extremely high volcanic activity, which also add to the toxic atmosphere, preventing any lifeforms from living on this planet. Elsewhere, the more substantial rock, is prone to quake activity, due to the readily moving tectonic plates.
LENGTH OF DAY (1 complete rotation where Valteras IV=26hours) - 53hours
LENGTH OF YEAR (1 complete orbit of Valteras where Valteras IV=462days) - 96 days
ORBIT - Eliptical
[edit] VALTERAS II - CLASS N (REDUCING)
Orbiting at an average distance of 97 million Km, Valteras II is the second hotted, not only because it is the second planet, but is more to do with the thick atmospheric conditions, which are comparible to Venis within the Sol system. It's temperatures range from 503 degree Celsius in the day time to approximately 200 degree Celsius in the night regions.
The surface seems to be rock (as recorded by probes), and water does appear to be present but in a gaseous state (i.e. vapour). However, due to the extreme temperatures, there is no known lifeforms present on the surface of Valteras II.
LENGTH OF DAY (1 complete rotation where VALTERAS=26hours) - 196hours
LENGTH OF YEAR (1 complete orbit of Valteras where VALTERAS IV=400days) - 273 days
ORBIT - Eliptical
There are two natural satellites, both unable to sustain life due to the lack of atmosphere and molten surfaces. Valteras II-alpha and Valteras II-beta are 10 times smaller than Valteras I and orbit Valteras II approximately twice with every rotation of Valteras II.
[edit] VALTERAS III - CLASS H (DESERT)
The radial distance of Valteras III from the Valteras star ranges from 132 million Km to 89 million Km due to it's slightly eccentric orbit and is only the second planet nearest the sun for approximately 15 of Valteras IV days. Its surface temperature ranges in the region of 104 degree Celsius in the day time to -54 degrees Celsius in the night.
Valteras III also has a set of rings.
Having already been visited, Valteras III is largely covered in red phosphurus, which is highly flammable upon electrical contact. Every so many years, an electrical storm hits Vateras III and causes a blanket of fire. There has been some caves discovered that help to protect any one on the planet. This is the location of the underground chambers discovered by Marine Captain Trevix. It has been found that this planet is the home to some unknown lifeforms, like none-other the Federation have met before. This planet is, by order of Starfleet Command, a protectorate planet.
LENGTH OF DAY (1 complete rotation where VALTERAS IV=26hours) - 20 hours
LENGTH OF YEAR (1 complete orbit of Valteras where VALTERAS IV=400days) - 379 days
ORBIT - Eccentric
Valteras III has one natural satellite known as Valteras III-alpha 'Gondarra', which despite its location near the Valteras sun, seems to hold characteristics that could sustain humanoid lifeforms. The surface is approximately 80% frozen water with the land masses growing basic vegetation, such as grasses and ferns.
[edit] VALTERAS IV - CLASS O (PELAGIC)
Orbiting at a distance of approximately 179 million Km from the sun, Valteras IV is the only planet within the system that is known to be able to sustain life without technology. Being situated in the Ecosphere of the sun, Valteras IV is placed perfectly to receive the correct amount heat energy to sustain and develop carbon-based life. With an atmosphere similar to Earth's and surface temperatures ranging from -6 to 46 degrees Celsius in the daytime and -23 to 35 degrees Celsius in the night, Valteras IV is the perfect location for colonisation.
The surface is approximately 80% water with five large continents that are largely unexplored.
LENGTH OF DAY (1 complete rotation where VALTERAS IV=26hours) - 26 hours
LENGTH OF YEAR (1 complete orbit of Valteras where VALTERAS IV=400days) - 400 days
ORBIT - Eliptical
Valteras IV has one unnatural satellite, Outpost G12, this is the home of the Federation, Cardassian and Romulan crew and civilians.
[edit] VALTERAS V - CLASS I (GAS SUPERGIANT)
Valteras V orbits the sun at a distance of approximately 290 million Km. Despite it's location and distance from the sun, Valteras V is relatively hot, having a surface comprised of gaseous hydrogen and compounds of hydrogen causing the planet to seemingly radiate heat. It's atmoshpere is thick and gaseous, similar to Valteras II, but not as dense and so has a small amount of global warming. The surface temperatures range from approximately 63 - 12 degrees Celsius in the day to 59 to -1 degrees Celsius at night.
Like most gas giants, Valteras V does not spin as a solid sphere and as such the equator spins approximately 13 minutes faster than the pole. So the length of days varies depending on where you would proverbially be on the planet.
LENGTH OF DAY (1 complete rotation where VALTERAS IV=26hours) -
9hrs 12 mins (pole regions) - 9hrs 25 mins (equator)
LENGTH OF YEAR (1 complete orbit of Valteras where VALTERAS IV=400days) -
6 321days (15.8 Valteras IV years)
ORBIT - Eliptical
Valteras V has five natural satellites, where four are frozen and one is a desert.
[edit] VALTERAS VI - CLASS C (GEO-INACTIVE)
Valteras VI is the last planet in the system and is the furthest from the sun. With the huge leap of a distance between Valteras V and itself, this sixth member of the Valteras family orbits the sun at a distance of 4.89 billion Km. Although the sun is a white star, the heat energy reaching Valteras VI is minimal compared to her sisters. The surface area are below freezing in a range of -253 degrees Celsius in the day to -263 degrees Celsius at night.
The surface is largely made of glaciated ice, which may suggest a presence of fossils of past life although, this is circumstantial. Since the surface temperatures are so low, it is unlikely that carbon-based lifeforms can survive on this planet.
LENGTH OF DAY (1 complete rotation where VALTERAS IV=26hours) - 23 hours
LENGTH OF YEAR (1 complete orbit of Valteras where VALTERAS IV=400days) -
103 485 days (258.7 Valteras IV years)
ORBIT - Eliptical
