The Izarian are a humanoid species hailing form the planet Izaria in open space near the Cardassian Union. They are very similar to Humans in respect of external physical appearances. Technologically they are an early warp species, breaking the warp barrier in 2350 and making first contact with the Federation that year. It took 5 years for them to develop their first Warp 2 vessel, despite Starfleet assistance they prefer to do most of the work themselves, being a noble people. Not arrogant, they simply prefer to be self reliant and not to rely too strongly on outsiders for technological advancement.
