Erell Jed

Lieutenant Erell Jed, MD, PhD Psychology, is the former Chief Medical Officer aboard the USS Cambrian, an Akira-class starship, when it was under the command of Captain Rupert Banks. He spends his time healing the many injuries the Cambrian's crew can't seem to avoid, trying to figure out what all the flashing lights in sickbay mean and causing overall torment to the CO and general crew. He has recently been reassigned to the new Nebula-class USS Cambrian-A under Captain Mek'tor.

[edit] BACKGROUND

Erell was born September 6th 2355. He is the third host to the Jed symbiont: the first was an unimpressive science researcher; the second became fascinated by Vulcan life and culture, so much so that he relocated to Vulcan after the joining. There he studied many aspects of Vulcan culture, even becoming proficient in nuero-pressure. Much of this understanding was passed onto Erell.

Erell was joined at a very young age. Jed's previous host took a shine to his enthusiasm and determination, making sure he was chosen. Erell was delighted that he would one day be joined, however the day came sooner than expected when the symbiont died suddenly.

[edit] Starfleet History

When he was old enough, Erell Jed left Trill for Starfleet academy. He sailed through his first year, coming second in his class and making several good friends too. He joined Starfleet Medical, specialising in psychiatry. It was during his third year when the Breen attack came.

Before the attack Erell and some friends had been studying in the library. Erell had made it most of the way to the door when structural damage from the bombardment caused the room to collapse in on them. His left leg was trapped by some falling rubble, while all of his friends were killed.

After the attack Erell went through several operations, a full year of rehabilitation and counseling before making a full recovery and completing his term at the academy. He spent his internship on Earth and his cadet cruise aboard Starbase 72 before being assigned to the USS Cambrian.

During an attack on the ship the Cambrian's CMO was killed. With casualties piling in, sickbay devolved into chaos. Erell, still and ensign, climbed onto a console and began to issue orders. After recommendations from the ship's XO, Lt. Cdr. Banks, a man with whom Erell had developed a close friendship, Erell left the ship to take medical training.

On orders of Admiral Jarax his course was fast tracked, and he returned within months with a promotion to Chief Medical Officer and full Lieutenant. The friendship between him and Banks, now the Cambrian's CO, only strengthened over the next few months, so much that when Captain Banks was reassigned, Erell left the Cambrian with him.

During his time away, Erell furthered his studies in forensic psychology and other areas. After a year as an attached medic to mostly administrative staff, Erell reapplied for line duty, and was assigned to the Cambrian for the third time in his career.

Strengths: Has a generally easy-going nature that helps him to earn trust easily. He is quite intelligent but tends to hide this fact, and sometimes applies his intelligence in creative but not necessarily proper ways. Erell is also an excellent profiler.

Weaknesses: Sometimes walks with a limp, Erell cannot run except in short burst when adrenaline is pumping. Usually doesn't take matters seriously enough. Due to his accelerated studies in medicine Erell is not a great medical doctor and preforms only routine procedures unless absolutely necessary.

Description
