[edit] General Information

Charles Jenkinson is a Sixth Fleet player, hailing from Perth, Western Australia.

[edit] PBEM Involvement

[edit] Pre Sixth Fleet

Charles has been involved in PBEM Star Trek simulations since 1997, when he first began with the late simulation Sector 174. He created his mainstay character, Jim Roys at this time, and after several years in the fleet became the Executive Officer of the fleet's flagship.

Sector 174 collapsed in 2004, and after a brief hiatus, Charles recreated his alter-ego in Sixth Fleet. He completed half of his training at the Tango Fleet academy, but finished at Sixth Fleet.

[edit] Sixth Fleet Career

Since then, Dr Jim Roys was for some time the Chief Medical Officer of the USS Hyperion. Recently he has been promoted to Executive Officer.

He also played two other characters, Lt Jessica Ranford on the Arc Angel, and RAdm John Clarsen within the Crossroads Simulation.

Charles is also a Sixth Fleet Academy Instructor, as well as the Deputy Commandant of the Marine Corps. He took on the role of Task Force Three Advisor in 2008, and was asked to extend his duties to cover the associate sim, Crossroads.

While getting to know the crew at Crossroads, Charles was asked to be the caretaker Commanding Officer of the Cestus Station (Deep Space 12) simulation. He created Rear Admiral John Clarsen to fill his first time as a Commanding Officer within the Sixth Fleet universe.

He is an active member of the Sixth Fleet Command Council (or Senate) and pushes for the accountability of its members. He does his best to ensure that the Command Council takes action in the most efficient way, with the least disruption. Above all, Charles strives to keep the Command Council acting in the best interest of the players it represents.

[edit] In Real Life:

Ouside the fleet, Charles is a Doctor who works at Royal Perth Hospital in Western Australia. He has special interests in Emergency Medicine, and Cardiothoracic Surgery. He has recently returned from a month in the centre of the Australian desert, working at an Indigenous Australian Medical Service. The experience was very worthwhile, and he even managed to learn some of the local language while he was there!

Currently he is on Secondment at the Broome Health Service, in the tourist town of Broome. Based in the far north of Western Australia, he enjoys the opportunity to go fishing after work, and take his four wheel drive off the road on weekends. He has just returned from driving up the Gibb River Road, one of the most remote outback tracks in Australia.

While in Broome, he has joined the Peninsula Bombers Football Club (Australian Rules). He has enjoyed the experience, and the unique individuals he's met through playing country football.

[edit] Other Interests:

His hobbies include ballroom dancing, refereeing basketball, and four wheel driving in the outback desert of Australia. He acts as a part time wedding planner and function coordinator, and once ran a tutoring agency to supply families with private tutors.

When not studying, working, or playing hard, Charles enjoys a nice glass of red wine and a meal with good friends. He enjoys watching plays, ballet, opera, and cabaret shows.

[edit] Why Sixth Fleet?

Charles sees Sixth Fleet as a great opportunity to meet interesting people from around the world who share a common interest in Star Trek. He enjoys character development and exploration of morality and ethics in his game play, and no matter how much game experience he accumulates, always aims to improve his writing style and narrative structure.

[edit] Writing Style

Charles prefers a character-focused approach to writing. He believes in "quality, rather than quantity". He favours playing only one character, choosing to focus on development and exploration of the one person's individuality, characteristics, idiosyncrasies, and uniqueness.

He particularly enjoys writing scenes of religious significance (weddings, funerals, worship services) for the many cultures in the Star Trek universe. Charles can also never pass up the opportunity for "banter scenes" or scenes in a ship's bar.
